Picture choice

A multiple-choice question where options are images.

A picture choice question presents options as images instead of (or alongside) text labels. It shines when the thing being chosen is inherently visual — a layout, a colour, a product photo, a logo direction — where a text label would lose information.

Images raise engagement and can speed up answering, but they add weight: optimise and lazily load them so the question does not stall on a slow connection, and keep the option count modest so the grid stays scannable.

Accessibility is non-negotiable: every image option needs a meaningful text alternative and a clearly visible selected state that does not rely on colour alone, so the question works for screen-reader and low-vision users. See form accessibility for the WCAG specifics.
